The history of Lindermeyr began in 1859 in a
small office and warehouse in lower Manhattan. Two World Wars,
the Great Depression and numerous recessions did not keep Henry
Lindenmeyr & Sons and their "Paper of Merit" from becoming a recognized
merchant in the fine paper distribution market.
The 1960's through to the 1980's proved to be years of growth an
modernization for Lindenmeyr Paper Corporation. Computerized
inventory and invoicing systems were installed, making Lindenmeyr
one of the first merchants in the United States to have this technology.
In 1984, Central National-Gottesman Inc., (CNG) a family owned global
company specializing in the sale of pulp, paper, paperboard and
new spirit acquired Lindenmeyr Paper Corporation.
CNG continued its growth by acquiring D.F. Munroe (1988), a paper
merchant in the New England area; Communication Paper Corporation
(1990), specializing in the sale of communication and printing papers
in the Long Island, New York area; and Perkins & Square (1994).
The three companies were combined under the Lindenmeyr name.
In 1996 and 1997 Lindenmeyr expanded into the Washington/Baltimore
and Richmond, Virginia areas.
Today, Lindenmeyr Munroe is an independent, regional fine paper
merchant with twelve office and warehouse locations from Virginia
to Maine.
