Company History

Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in April 2000 as a newly created Company, PaperlinX possessed a history of papermaking in Australia that began in 1926 and experience in paper distribution that dates back to the 1600s.

In January 2001, PaperlinX acquired Australian listed paper distributor Spicers Paper securing a platform for international growth in fine paper merchanting, with businesses in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Asia.

This was followed by the acquisitions of Canadian paper merchants Coast Paper in May 2001 and Papier Turgeon in April 2002 to add national Canadian coverage to an already strong US position.

In July 2002 the acquisition of Bunzl Fine Paper, later renamed The Paper Company, provided an important strategic footprint into the UK market.

The November 2003 acquisition of Buhrmann's paper merchanting division, renamed PaperlinX Europe, strengthened PaperlinX's European customer base and added significantly to PaperlinX's global paper merchanting business creating the only world wide merchant platform.

More recently in March 2006, PaperlinX acquired another Canadian paper distributor, Cascades Resources (now Spicers Canada), to build further scale and value in North America.  The US footprint has also continued to grow over this period with acquisitions and green-field startups in Denver, Minneapolis, Kansas City, St. Louis and Salt Lake City.

Today, PaperlinX is Australia and New Zealand's leading paper manufacturer and has the widest geographic distribution of any fine paper merchant in the world.

PaperlinX North America is a multidimensional fine paper merchant network serving a variety of printers and end users of paper and graphic supplies throughout the continent. Together with its Australian parent, PaperlinX North America is now part of a global merchanting network that is the largest exclusive fine paper distribution company in the world. The operating companies that constitute PaperlinX North America include:
